Claire Spence

Meet Claire, who is standing for Trustee election

Role/Job Title

Tissue Viability Nurse

Organisation

Calderdale and Huddersfield Foundation Trust

Brief CV

I have been a TVN for almost 4 years. I am completing my MSc Clinical Skin Integrity and Wound Management at University of Hertfordshire, with a further two modules to go. This is largely self-funded which is testament to my commitment to tissue viability. Other qualifications include sharp debridement.

I have a drive and passion to improve tissue viability nationally and locally. Most recently, I spoke at a Nursing Times clinical webinar for pressure ulcer prevention which was very successful. Locally, I have created pathways including a ‘Well leg Check’ for our Aging Well Service adapting National Wound Care Strategy recommendations to include early compression for those with chronic oedema without a wound. I believe real success requires pro-active strategy, shifting from an often reactive culture of care.

I would love the opportunity to become a Trustee. I believe my knowledge, experience and enthusiasm to educate and drive change are valuable attributes I can bring to the Board of Trustees.
