Role/Job Title

Lead Tissue Viability Nurse

Organisation

East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust

Brief CV

I registered in 2005 as a surgical nurse on a colorectal surgery ward at East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust and I was extremely fortunate to have Heidi Sandoz as my local TVN. Heidi inspired me to want to become a TVN and ignited a passion in me for wound care.

I joined the Tissue Viability team in 2008 on a part time secondment which sadly ended in 2010. During this time I completed my Tissue Viability degree at the University of Hertfordshire and grew increasingly passionate about tissue viability. I was devastated to return to my ward but knew that I would one day return to tissue viability. This dream became a reality in 2013 and I became a full time TVN under the expert guidance of Dianne Brett.

Sadly when Dianne passed away in 2018 I became the lead for the service and have spent the last 4 years trying to live up to the faith she had in me.

I love being a TVN and inspiring nurses to do better things with wound care. I love seeing wounds heal and rejoicing in those positive patient outcomes. I have a particular interest in complex surgical wounds.
