Brief CV

My nursing career within the NHS spans over 30 years, during which I have held specialist nursing posts in tissue viability/dermatology in both primary and secondary care. I have 25 years’ experience teaching/assessing and managing academic programmes in the university sector and have a particular interest in multi-disciplinary team education, development of specialist practice in wound management, skin integrity and dermatology. I have played a key part in establishing specialist tissue viability education in the UK and am the Programme Director for the MSc Skin Integrity/Wound Management and MSc Clinical Dermatology (University of Hertfordshire), which since 2000 have educated and supported a significant number of skin integrity specialist practitioners in the UK and internationally.

I have prior experience of active involvement with a wide range of specialist skin integrity organisations, including 15 years’ working with the EWMA Council. My contribution as a trustee of the Society would be to share my knowledge of:

  • Quality improvement and organisational development with health care professionals from a variety of disciplines.
  • Multi-disciplinary workforce development initiatives to create and deliver educational programmes to support clinical services.
  • Business development and networking skills to help create robust partnerships between education, research, health care services and industry.
  • Provision of educational consultancy services; health care sector and industry.

I would value the opportunity to be able to contribute to the aims of the Society to help transform practice, ensuring that people with compromised tissue viability receive optimal care delivered by knowledgeable, reflective practitioners.
