Thank you for the TVS Scholarship…

IMG_1077Hannah Wintle was the lucky winner of a scholarship to EWMA 2015 which was held in London.  Here is her report…

“I am a student adult nurse at the University of the West of England, currently coming towards the end of my second year of studies. I was fortunate enough to be awarded a scholarship through the Tissue Viability Society (TVS) to one day of the EWMA Conference in May 2015. I applied due to my long standing interest in tissue viability, wound care and to spend time and learn from like-minded individuals. On arrival at the conference in London, I was introduced to the Tissue Viability Society trustees. I was encouraged to visit as many talks and stands as possible to make the most of my time there. Having read through the extensive list of available opportunities, I decided to base myself in the series of TVS talks. This was because each talk was on a different subject and included patient perspectives. As the day progressed, I felt privileged to be in the presence of such knowledgeable and passionate individuals and found myself formulating ideas for both my future practice and my dissertation next year!

I would recommend the EWMA conference to any student interested in wound care and tissue viability. It is a great opportunity to learn about advances in wound care and to learn best practice from other nurses working in different areas of the country and in different health trusts. The knowledge gained can be shared among fellow students; I have done this and feel my confidence in the best way to lead and develop others has increased. I would like to thank the Tissue Viability Society once again for this opportunity and look forward to taking what I have learnt forward, for the benefit of my patients and my professional development”.
