Our Education & Endorsements
To prepare and deliver a programme of activities to educate, inform and serve the continuing professional development of health and social care professionals who have a responsibility for the delivery and provision of skin health and wound healing related care
Our education programmes are designed to increase the knowledge and skill levels of participants in our programmes. It is the responsibility of the attendee to determine whether they have the required level of competence and scope of practice to incorporate their knowledge or technical skill into their clinical practice.
We are delighted to align our educational and endorsement offerings alongside the National Wound Care Strategy Programme (NWCSP) Workforce Wound Care Framework. We are using this framework tiers (see below) to align the educational content of our programmes, as well as those we endorse. We feel this will not only enhance the design and curriculum of our education portfolio but will guide our audience to choose the correct programme for them.

Tier 1
Education that will provide attendees with a general knowledge and understanding of wound care and the skills which support the provision of that care. Target audience for these sessions will include student healthcare practitioners, support workers and clinicians with limited experience in the field of tissue viability and wound care.
Tier 2
Education that will enable attendees to undertake the provision of wound care independently and with a degree of critical analysis. Target audience for these sessions will include clinicians with general wound care experience who wish to expand their knowledge and skills in the field of tissue viability and wound care. These individuals may have previously completed Tier 1 education programmes.
Tier 3
Education that will enable the provision of a high degree of autonomy and complex decision making, an ability to lead wound care practice, enabling innovative solutions to enhance people’s experience and improve outcomes. Target audience for these sessions will include tissue viability or wound care specialists who are working at or progressing towards working at a senior or advanced level in this specialised area. These individuals may have previously completed Tier 2 education programmes.
It is important to highlight that the Tiers do not relate to specific roles or pay grades. For example, it is possible that a consultant level doctor or advanced level clinician who has little involvement in wound care may only require knowledge and skill as defined in Tier 1.
Wound Care Education Domains
The learning objectives for programmes will be benchmarked under the following NWCSP Domains;
- underpinning principles,
- assessment, investigation and diagnosis
- wound care
- personalised care and health promotion
- leadership and management, education and research
These domains do not indicate a prescribed pathway, process or hierarchy because it is likely that individual programme content will include content across several domains, however it will allow us to determine the relevance of session aims and learning objectives with content.
