Have your say! Can we ‘see’ biofilm in chronic wounds?
To gain wound care practitioner consensus on the signs, symptoms and/or biomarkers likely to indicate presence of biofilm in chronic wounds: an electronic Delphi study
The Society of Tissue Viability are delighted to help people who are undertaking research and if you have a moment to spare, perhaps you can help with gaining wound care practitioner consensus on the signs, symptoms and/or biomarkers likely to indicate presence of biofilm in chronic wounds: an electronic Delphi study
Background
John D Ivory is a PhD student at the School of Nursing and Midwifery, University of Galway, Ireland, and his area of interest is diagnosis of biofilm in chronic wounds. John has completed a comprehensive scoping review of the literature to derive a list of signs and symptoms currently reported to be indicative of biofilm in chronic wounds
Description
He has generated a list of signs and symptoms based on the results of the scoping review, and is now asking for your expert opinion to refine it further via a 2-round electronic Delphi survey in which you will be asked to rate each sign/symptom along a 9-point Likert scale ranging from ‘not likely’ to ‘highly likely’ to be indicative of biofilm in chronic wounds.
The results of this survey will be validated against a gold standard biopsy taken from consenting persons with diabetic foot ulceration in the clinical phase of my PhD project.
Should you wish to consider participating, please read the Participant Information Leaflet
The survey
The survey will be conducted in two rounds, the link to round one is below
