Matt Hazledine

After having a severe episode of cellulitis in June 2011 that hospitalised him for two weeks, Matt Hazledine was diagnosed with lymphoedema in his left leg, 56% bigger than his right leg. Since then, Matt has experienced almost every product, therapy and surgery available to him, bringing his leg swelling down to 17% volume at its lowest.
Using his knowledge and experience, in 2021, Matt created the one-stop-shop, patient-based website LymphoedemaUnited.com and wrote about his challenges and solutions in a book, alongside over 20 lymphoedema experts, ‘How to Live Better with Lymphoedema – Meet the Experts’ both with the aim of helping others with this lifelong disease and to raise money for charities.
Matt also organises an annual charity golf day for golfers with lymphoedema, uniting people from all over the country to share experience and tips, making friends for life.
His latest project with other proactive lymphoedema advocates, is to Unite the Lymphoedema Community’ by organising local Meet-ups, for people with lymphoedema to meet others for tea/coffee and a chat to swap tips and information.
