Anna Brown, Advanced Physiotherapist, Midland Centre for Spinal Injuries, RJAH Orthopaedic Hospital

Anna qualified from Oxford Brookes University in 2012.  She started as a band 5 rotational physiotherapist at the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital, Oswestry, United Kingdom straight from university.  After completing a rotation on the Midland Centre for Spinal Injuries, she realised her passion lay within specialist rehab, she then gained a band 6 permanent job with the Spinal Injury Therapy team.  Whilst a band 6, she was provided with the opportunity to take on a secondment role with the unit’s wheelchair therapist where she further developed her interest in posture and seating.

Anna gained the role of Advanced Physiotherapist, specialising in Wheelchairs and Specialist seating in 2021.  Her role incorporates liaison with different wheelchair services for the patients within the catchment area of the Midland Centre for Spinal Injuries and beyond. Anna assesses their seating requirements developing a prescription to order their specialist equipment.  She undertakes pressure mapping and the subsequent follow up for those patients that have developed pressure sores.
