Hidradenitis suppurativa – an overview
Objectives
After attending this session, persons will be able to:
- Recognise symptoms and signs of HS
- Understand the impact of HS on patients
- Understand available treatment options
Abstract
Hidradenitis suppurativa is a relatively common disease which can have a devastating impact on the quality of life of more severely affected patients. It has historically been under-recognised so that many patients wait many years for a diagnosis and, even when diagnosed, treatment options have been limited. Recent advances in therapy have improved the outlook for many patients but for others HS remains a very difficult condition to live with for many patients and long term multidisciplinary support may be needed.
