Deborah Chester Bessell

Deborah Chester Bessell, Teaching and Learning Fellow (Adult Nursing), University of Salford

Deborah qualified as an adult nurse in 2015, and began her career as a community staff nurse, quickly transitioning to a caseload holder role. Deborah’s passion for wound care and leg ulcer management naturally led her to specialise in tissue viability. As a Tissue Viability Nurse Specialist, she honed her skills and deepened her expertise in this critical area of healthcare.

Deborah’s journey then took her into the realm of education, where she now serves as a module lead at the University of Salford. She oversees postgraduate courses in tissue viability and leg ulcer care, sharing her knowledge and experience with the next generation of nurses.

In addition to Deborah’s teaching responsibilities, she has ventured into the world of publication, with aspirations to contribute more extensively to the field. Her career reflects a commitment to continuous learning and a dedication to improving patient outcomes through both clinical practice and education.

LIVE Wound moulage, assessment and wound bed preparation using the T.I.M.E Clinical Decision Support Tool (CDST)

Objectives

This workshop is suitable for clinicians from all healthcare settings that are involved in the assessment of wounds and wound care planning. This is a fundamentals session for clinicians new to wound care or those that would like a refresher on the assessment principles using latest best practice and guidance.

  • To increase confidence in the principles of wound assessment following observation of a live demonstration using wound moulage
  • To improve understanding of the benefits of a structured approach to assessment to facilitate using the T.I.M.E framework to facilitate appropriate wound interventions and selection of the right dressing at the right time
  • To have the opportunity to interact with industry partners and learn how their solutions can meet your clinical objectives following the T.I.M.E framework
