Amelia is a nurse with a background in chronic pain management.  Her PhD allowed her to explore and understand the physiology of pain and her publication work focuses on helping others to understand this.  This, she believes, is the way to improve selection of appropriate therapies to improve the experiences of patients in pain.  She is a council member of the British Pain Society and the co-chair of the RCN Pain and Palliative Care Forum.  She is active in promoting effective pain education for all health professionals and a believer in collaboration with patients in education and research.
