About the webinar

It takes a deep dive into the digital transformation journeys undertaken by project leads Zoe and Louise at North Cumbria Integrated Care (NCIC) and York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trusts respectively.

Both speakers provided invaluable insight into building business cases without baseline wound data, how to quantify the local problem they are trying to solve, and how to start a project and then expand the use of digital wound management systems to a wider team. Using their organizations’ implementation experiences, they offered best practice advice on how to maximise clinician adoption of new technologies to generate effective outcomes. They also demonstrated how wound transformation projects can utilise change management methodologies, such as the Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) cycle, to achieve the most effective results.

The top five takeaways from the webinar:

1. Do your best to gather baseline data for your business cases, even on a small scale.

2. Take advantage of the national data and guidelines available through the National Wound Care Strategy Programme to bolster local data or highlight the need for local data.

3. While the project leader plays an important role, early adopters and clinical champions are essential to getting buy-in from your team and ensuring a successful rollout.

4. Take advantage of success stories from similar sites that have undertaken their own digital innovation – share ideas and relevant data.

5. It’s not going to be perfect, but that’s okay. Don’t be afraid to take the leap of faith.

It is inevitable that challenges will always arise, whether at the beginning, in the middle, or when revising a proposal in order to extend or expand a transformational project. Despite these challenges, this webinar provides sensible strategies for overcoming them, adhering to a results-driven approach, and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships.
