Stop the Pressure 2025
Pressure ulcers are a concerning and largely avoidable harm associated with healthcare delivery (NHS Improvement, 2018)

“What Matters to Me Is…”
The Society of Tissue Viability’s 2025 Stop the Pressure Campaign
Pressure ulcers don’t discriminate. They can affect anyone — from newborn babies to those at the end of life — across every type of care setting: at home, in hospital, in care homes, in emergency care systems such as ambulances and A&E, and even in hospices.
They don’t always appear while under clinical care. Sometimes, they develop before a person seeks help, and other times while care is being provided by professionals or social carers.
People frequently move between care settings, so it’s essential that every point of care offers consistent, well-communicated, evidence-based support.
We Know What Works — So Why Isn’t It Always Working?
There is no shortage of literature proving that evidence-based interventions, such as the aSSKINg bundle*, can dramatically reduce the risk of pressure ulcers. These care bundles are grounded in decades of research and clinical trials — and yet, they’re not always successful in practice.
Why? Often, clinicians say that patients don’t “concord” with the care plan. But maybe the real issue is that we’re not listening closely enough. Care shouldn’t be done to patients — it should be done with them. Success begins with understanding what really matters to them, in their own context, and adapting care to meet those priorities.
This Year’s Theme: “What matters to me is…”
In 2025, the Society of Tissue Viability is turning the spotlight on the patient voice.
We will be working across:
- Accident and emergency departments
- Hospital wards
- Care homes and home care settings
- End-of-life care situations
- And everything in between
We’ll be asking both patients and clinicians:
What matters to you in this moment? In this place?
The campaign will amplify stories, challenges, and perspectives – from those delivering care and those receiving it – to bring us back to the heart of person-centred practice. Especially now, in a climate of limited resources and stretched services, getting this right has never been more important.
What’s Happening in the Campaign
This year’s #StopThePressure campaign includes a variety of formats to inform, engage and inspire:
- Study Days – Deep dives into clinical best practices and patient-centred care approaches
- Webinars – Virtual sessions connecting clinicians and campaign contributors
- A Series of Blogs & Short Videos – First-hand insights from diverse care environments
- Quizzes, games & social media campaigns – Interactive tools to keep awareness high and learning fresh
Join Us during the 17-21 November
This is more than a campaign – it’s a movement toward care that listens, adapts, and delivers. Whether you’re a frontline nurse, a home carer, a policy maker or a patient advocate, we invite you to engage with this year’s Stop the Pressure events and help us build care systems that reflect the real, lived needs of individuals.
