Challenging historic practice in leg and foot care: Ensuring compression is the default therapy for lower leg wounds

Our free full day educational sessions promote the best practices in skin health and wound healing

Overview

The use of compression therapy is widely associated with the treatment of venous leg ulceration. However, there are other wound types and conditions that would benefit from this treatment but because of historic practice or a lack of education, patients are being denied therapeutic care.

Through the support of the Legs matter coalition, this study day will push the ‘historic practice’ boundaries by challenging current practice and will make a case for why compression should become the default therapy for the prevention and management of lower limb wounds.

Who’s the Challenging historic practice in leg and foot care study day suitable for?

The study day is aimed at any healthcare practitioner with an interest in lower limb wound care, or those responsible for treating patients at risk of or currently living with a lower limb or foot wound. This may include registered nurses working in community, primary or secondary care settings, podiatrists, specialist practitioners such as TVNs, vascular, plastics, dermatology or lymphoedema services and GPs.
