Overview

At the Society of Tissue Viability, we are thrilled to announce the upcoming launch of our 2025 Seating Guidelines through an engaging and informative webinar. This third edition of the guidelines has been carefully revised to provide a comprehensive, practical resource grounded in the latest research and evidence surrounding pressure ulcer prevention and management.

The purpose of these guidelines is to serve as an essential reference for healthcare professionals, care givers, and individuals who remain seated for prolonged periods across various health and social care settings.

In the UK alone, over 700,000 patients are affected by pressure ulcers each year, with approximately 180,000 cases being newly acquired annually. The treatment costs associated with pressure ulcers are substantial, with estimates reaching £3.8 million every day for the NHS.

Recognising this, our guidelines aim to improve prevention strategies, enhance patient care, and reduce the incidence of pressure ulcers among those at risk when seated. They are designed to be applicable to people living with pressure ulcer risk, as well as to the healthcare professionals, caregivers, and support staff who work closely with them across all sectors of health and social care. Our goal is to empower those involved in delivering and receiving care with the most current, evidence-based practices to effectively prevent pressure ulcers when seated.

We look forward to your participation in this important event as we work together to promote safer seating practices and advance pressure ulcer prevention.
